About the Project
Market of non-governmental organizations is a unique one-day event, which has been growing in size and scope since its inception in 2000. NGOs active in education, volunteering, human rights, environmental and other issues are given an opportunity to present their activities to broad public, establish new partnerships, address potential sponsors and volunteers, and even gain valuable know-how needed for successful NGO-management.
NGO Market 2000
The first ever NGO Market was held on June 12-13, 2000 at the Prague Castle. The impulse for this project was the view of non-profit organizations in the Czech Republic and the realization that cooperation among like-minded organizations is not effective enough. Instead of cooperation, the sector is dominated by competition and antagonism, which leads to fragmentation of activities and often to unnecessary duplication. The aim of the exhibition was to bring together all NGOs and raise their awareness of the activities and projects currently going on. At the same time, the fair was also an excellent opportunity for the public to learn more about the sector.
The program of the fair also contained a panel discussion, which was also attended by foreign experts employed in the nonprofit sector. The discussion focused on several key issues, such as the pollution of air, water and earth, the infrastructure of cities, recycling, wastewater treatment, lifestyle or family planning.
