Common paths for the Czech Republic and Germany in the Ukrainian crisis

Wednesday, June 29th, 2016, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
Goethe-Institute Prague, Masarykovo nábřeží 32

Ukraine finds itself in a fragile transition period. A comprehensive reform process has been inserted while the conflict with the separatists in the eastern part of the country remains unsolved. The major goal of the Ukrainian efforts is to get closer to the EU. These are however accompanied with major challenges:

In order to secure a sustainable stabilization in Ukraine, the country needs a competitive economy, reliable constitutional structures and a strong civil society. How can the EU support this reform process? What can be provided by both, the Czech Republic and Germany as partners in the EU?

With the Prague panel discussion, the Czech-German Discussion Forum follows up on talks about Russia and Ukraine. The advisory board of the Czech-German Discussion Forum and representatives from the political and economic scene as well as from science and society discuss the mutual challenges for the Czech Republic and Germany against the background of their partnership in the EU.

Moderator
Libor Rouček, chairman, Czech-German Discussion Forum

Panelists
Yevhen Hlibovytsky, founder, pro.mova, Kiev
Rostislav Valvoda, director, Prague Civil Society Centre
Gert Weisskirchen, former Member of the German Bundestag

The panel discussion is organized by Forum 2000 Foundation and the Czech-German Fund for the Future. The discussion will be simlutaneously interpreted (English-Czech-German). Following the discussion we invite you to a small reception.

Prager Diskussionsrunde des Deutsch-Tschechischen Gesprächsforums

Gemeinsame Wege für Tschechien und Deutschland in der Ukraine-Krise

Mittwoch, 29. Juni 2016, 15.00-16.30 Uhr
