Tomáš Petříček was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2018. Previously, he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, and as Senior Advisor in the European Parliament. He also served in the municipal administration of the city of Prague where he managed the EU funds. At the Czech Social Democratic Party, he was a political advisor and later Head of the International Affairs Department. He earned a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University, and M.A. in political economy and development politics from universities in Warwick and Brussels.
