Ghia Nodia is the Professor of politics and the Director of the International School of Caucasus Studies in Ilia State University in Tbilisi. Mr. Nodia has published extensively on democratization, state-building, security, and conflicts in Georgia and the Caucasus, as well as on theories of nationalism and democratic transition. During 2008, Mr. Nodia briefly served as the Minister for education and science of Georgia. Since 1992, he is also the founder and chairman of the Caucasus Institute for Peace, Democracy and Development (CIPDD), an independent public policy think tank in Tbilisi. Apart from his academic work, he has been involved in pro-democracy advocacy efforts in Georgia and internationally.
