Bernard Kouchner

Before founding the Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in 1971, Bernard Kouchner volunteered as doctor with the International Red Cross. He served as President of Médecins Sans Frontières until 1979. After that he served as Minister of Social Affairs and Employment and Minister for Humanitarian Action. Between 1999-2001 Kouchner served as chief of the United Nations Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and between 2007-2010 as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
