Bedřich Moldan is the Founder and Director of the Charles University Environment Center and a Member of the Forum 2000 Foundation Program Council. Mr. Moldan has played a crucial role in the introduction of environmental legislation after 1989 and served as the first Czech Minister of Environment (1990–1991), and has since served in many national and international public policy positions, for instance as a Member of the Senate (2004–2010). Prof. Moldan has further authored hundreds of publications and articles, including Geology and Environment (1974), Ecology, Democracy, Market (1992), (Un)Sustainable Development– Ecology, Threat and Hope (2001) and Subdued Planet (2009).
