In recognition of Human rights day parliamentarians are introducing a letter to urge lawmakers from around the world to protect democratic norms and uphold human rights.
In May 2018, at the Ninth Global Assembly of the World Movement for Democracy in Dakar, Senegal, a working group of global parliamentarians convened to discuss efforts to promote democracy and uphold human rights around the world. One recommendation developed by the working group is the Parliamentary Call for Global Democratic Renewal, a global sign-on letter for parliamentarians who commit to upholding democratic principles and human rights in their parliaments.
We are happy this global call has been launched in coordination and with the support of the Forum 2000 Foundation and the International Coalition for Democratic Renewal.
