80 – 85% of all Tweets generated in trends in Venezuela are produced by the digital machinery of a Ministry of Communication and Information – on average these bots produce 4 million tweets per month. Venezuelans have migrated from traditional media as the main source of information to digital media and many traditional media have been censored and persecuted. All of this makes it much more difficult to understand the Venezuelan reality and know the difference between what is real and what is part of Maduro’s propaganda. In order to fight this form of disinformation, we need to educate people, researchers and journalists should provide tools for identification of fake news and also, the best way to fight „inorganicity“ of online content is to encourage people to use social networks, says Maria Virginia Marín, Executive Director of Probox Observatory, Venezuela.

This video was recorded on July 23, 2020.

As of September, we are releasing interviews each Thursday at 4PM CET. You can look forward to your favourite as well as new moderators and topics, which are also going to be addressed at the upcoming Forum 2000 Conference.
