Festival of Democracy, the associated program of the Forum 2000 Conference, took place on October 5 - 12, 2018. More than 65 events took place in Prague and in other parts of the Czech Republic and neighboring countries. The goal of the Festival's debates, lectures, screenings, and cultural events was to inspire public discussion about democracy, tolerance, and respect for human rights and our future. Topics spanned from foreign policy to current local issues. We are happy that this year’s Festival was joined by youth organizations such as the Young Political Scientists‘ Club, the Political Science Club of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Czech High School Union, and Young Citizens. The most recent addition to the program was a video contest for high school students called "#JáDemokracie." The participants submitted videos responding to our question: “What does democracy and freedom mean to you?“ The most visible part of the program was the Festival Day on October 6 at the Square of the Republic in Prague, where 25 NGOs presented their activities, with a lively program onstage adding to the Festival's atmosphere. The Festival maintained its high attendance, with this year's events attracting around 4,000 visitors in total.
