Covid-19 in Zimbabwe #Forum2000online

February 25, 2021

“…Zimbabwe has 95% unemployment rate and in majority of those 95% are people who depend on informal trade so when the government imposed a lockdown, it means people are locked down hungry.”

Nyaradzo Mashayamombe, women’s human rights activist from Zimbabwe, was the guest of our #Forum2000online Chat. Nyaradzo Mashayamombe is specializing on girls, young women and youth issues. She is the Founding Director of Tag a Life International Trust (TaLI), a girls and young women’s rights, gender and advocacy group in Zimbabwe, currently lobbying for better access to state funded basic education through the campaign Every Child in School #ECIS. We talked with Nyaradzo about current situation in Zimbabwe and her activities amid covid-19.

“When we are looking at human rights, it is crucial to look at the impact on women, the impact on children, the impact on the youth, the impact on the most vulnerable in the community.”

The interview was recorded on February 3, 2021 and moderated by Jackie Abramian, Journalist, PR, Marketing and Social Media strategist from the USA.
