Annual Conference of the Czech-German Discussion Forum: European Union in Time of Crisis: Opportunity or Threat?
November 7, 2020, online
On November 7, 2020, the Forum 2000 Foundation together with the Council of the CGDF, organized an online annual conference of the Czech-German Discussion Forum under the theme “European Union in Times of Crisis: Opportunity or Threat? (the Czech and German Perspective).”
Discussions focused on the current events influencing Europe, as well as on the current cooperation between Czechia and Germany. The EU values that we share are human rights, freedom, the rule of law, and the concept of democratic governance. It was emphasized that we have to keep reminding ourselves about the European values of solidarity and humanity and that it is important not only to state these values but also to live them. This is achievable by mutual endeavour for lifelong education – one of the core thoughts emphasized by John Amos Comenius, Czech theologian and educator, who died 350 years ago.
Conference recording is available on the web page of the Czech-German Discussion Forum (in Czech and German).
The Annual Conference is financed by the Czech-German Future Fund.
