United for Ukraine

About

A kick-off of this project was at the 29th Forum 2000 Conference, which featured two specialized workshops and a plenary session dedicated to security and the phenomenon of war fatigue. Representatives from the political sphere, the expert community, and civil society jointly developed a plan outlining concrete steps for the 2026–2028 period. As part of the project, we aim to highlight selected topics, foster mutual understanding among participants, and facilitate in-depth discussion. In line with the core mission of the Forum 2000 Conference as a platform for dialogue on democracy, the project also seeks to connect experts who would not otherwise meet, with the goal of identifying effective solutions and, where appropriate, advocating for their implementation.

Project Goals and Activities

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has reached a critical juncture, where international attention risks "fatigue," potentially weakening the global resolve necessary for sustained support. As Ukraine continues its path toward integration into the European democratic space, there is an urgent need to move beyond reactive measures and toward a structured, long-term strategic dialogue. This project was established to bridge the gap between Ukrainian stakeholders and their international partners, ensuring that the challenges of reconstruction, security, and democratic resilience remain at the forefront of the global policy agenda.

The initiative aims to sustain meaningful engagement and international support for Ukraine through:

  • Building a robust network of Members of Parliament, civil society leaders, and experts from Ukraine, Western countries, and the Global South.
  • Translating high-level discussions into concrete policy recommendations, legislative amendments, and advocacy resources.
  • Facilitating both in-person and virtual exchanges to enhance collaboration and a shared understanding of the challenges facing the region.

To achieve these goals, the project implements a series of annual activities designed for both broad engagement and targeted impact:

  • Forum for Ukraine: A central plenary session held during the annual Forum 2000 Conference in Prague.
  • Pre-conference sessions: Internal strategy meetings to align objectives ahead of major international gatherings.
  • Thematic workshops: Specialized panels and working groups focused on developing strategies to address specific geopolitical and democratic challenges.
  • Virtual briefings: Ongoing online meetings that enable continuous information sharing and a rapid response to emerging issues throughout the year.

Participants and Reach

The project brings together a diverse group of influential figures from four key sectors: parliamentary, civil society, think tank, and media. In parallel with the 29th Forum 2000 Conference, we convened a group of over 60 participants from Ukraine and around the world to identify ways to sustain support and to lay the foundations of a network that can contribute to this objective in their respective regions.

Representation includes:

  • Ukraine: A strong delegation, including Members of Parliament and representatives from civil society and think tanks.
  • Western allies: Key voices from Europe and the United States across all four sectors.
  • Global South: Crucial perspectives to ensure a truly global approach to supporting Ukraine and democratic solidarity.
