Tawakkol Abdul-Salam Karman is the President of the NGO Women Journalists without Chains (WJWC), the Founder of the Peaceful Youth Revolution Council, a board member of Nobel Women initiative, and a human rights activist and politician. Ms. Karman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 for her achievements in the non-violent struggle to ensure the safety of women and to secure right for women to fully participate in the peace-building work in Yemen. Within Yemen's youth movement, she is known as "Mother of the Revolution", "The Iron Woman", and "The Lady of the Arab Spring". Ms. Karman earned a B.A. in administrative and economic science from the University of Science and Technology in Sana'a, and a Graduate degree in Educational Psychology at Sanaa University.
