Shlomo Avineri

IsraelShlomo Avineri is a professor of Political Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and of the Forum 2000 Foundation Program Council. Prof. Avineri previously served as Director-General of Israel’s Foreign Ministry (1975–1977) and he is also a distinguished author, whose widely translated books include “The Social and Political Thought of Karl Marx” (1968,) “Israel and the Palestinians” (1971,) and “Hegel’s Theory of the Modern State” (1974.) Shlomo Avineri is a recipient of the Israel Prize, the country’s highest civilian decoration. He graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the London School of Economics.
