Rachel Azaria was elected to the 20th Knesset, as well as appointed Chairwoman of the Reforms Committee and served as a member of the Finance Committee, the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and the Ethics Committee. During her term, Ms. Azaria passed laws relating to working mothers, worked against laws which aimed to minimize pluralistic Judaism, and against laws that threatened the Israeli democracy. From 2008 to 2013, Ms. Azaria was a member of the Jerusalem City Council. Prior to her political activity, she was a social activist in environmental organizations and led an orthodox feminist organization concerning women’s rights. Ms. Azaria holds an M.A. in conflict resolution from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior to her university studies, she served a full term in military service.
