Michal Šimečka is currently holding a position of a vice-chairman of political party Progressive Slovakia. He is also a researcher at the Institute of International Relations in Prague, where he deals with the topic of European integration and security and at the same time acts as an adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prior to his return to the academic world, he worked in the European Parliament and externally also in the CEPC (Center for European Policy Studies) think-tank. Previously, he worked as a journalist in the SME and Financial Times. He earned a D.Phil degree in political science and international relations at the University of Oxford.
