RusssiaBusinessman, Russian Activist and former Chairman and CEO of Yukos, Mr. Khodorkovsky was Russia’s leading businessman and later, one of its longest serving political prisoners. Prior to his arrest in 2003, he sponsored programs supporting civil society through the Open Russia Foundation, funded opposition parties and publicly challenged the Kremlin on the issue of corruption. After two internationally-criticized trials, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison. In 2011, Amnesty International declared him a prisoner of conscience.
