Dr. Jaushieh Joseph Wu has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan since 2018. His long and illustrious career began as a research fellow at National Chengchi University’s Institute of International Relations. In 2002, he was appointed Deputy Secretary General to the President before being named Chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council in 2004. From 2007 to 2008, Dr. Wu served as Taiwan’s Representative to the United States. Upon his return to Taiwan, he held various senior positions in the Democratic Progressive Party. He was appointed Secretary General of the National Security Council in 2016, and Secretary General to the President in 2017. Dr. Wu holds a PhD in political science from Ohio State University.
