Darren focuses his anthropologist work at University of Washington on Uyghur dispossession, culture work and "terror capitalism" in the city of Ürümchi, the capital of Chinese Central Asia. He has published numerous analytical articles on ethnography of Islam in China, transnational Chinese cinema and travel and representation of Uyghur minority. He has also published in several international journals, namely Time, The Economist and Wall Street Journal. He has obtained his PhD title at University of Washington in 2018.
