Anna Lührmann is Deputy Director of the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute and an Assistant Professor at the University of Gothenburg. Prior to turning to academia, Ms. Lührmann was a member of the German Parliament, worked in Sudan for two years, and served as a consultant for UNDP, the World Bank and others. Ms. Lührmann received her Ph.D. in 2015 from Humboldt University in Berlin with a thesis on the United Nation’s electoral assistance and holds a M.A. degree in Research Training in Social Sciences from Humboldt University as well as a M.Sc. degree in Gender and Peace Studies from Ahfad University in Sudan.
