Amr Hamzawy is an Egyptian political scientist and a human rights activist. Between 2009 and 2010, he served as the research director in the Middle East Center of the Carnegie Endowment in Beirut, Lebanon. Hamzawy is a former member of the People’s Assembly after being elected in the first Parliamentary elections in Egypt after the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 and he is a founding member of the Freedom Egypt Party. In 2002, he received his PhD from the Free University of Berlin.
