Domestic violence, unemployment of women and gender-based violence have increased significantly during lockdown, yet governments keep on neglecting their pledges to take steps towards gender equality. However, pandemic can also be seen as an opportunity for young woman to come with solutions and take the lead.

We live in a time of global rise of authoritarian movements and far-right political parties which are threat for women´s rights. Term ´feminism´ is often misunderstood, which is why it´s essential to promote feminism as a movement that includes everyone – women and men, says one of the speakers Gulnara Shaninian.

Webinar ´Women´s equality and equity amid Covid-19´ took place on August 18, 2020 and was organized by the Working Group on Woman, Democracy, Human Rights and Security. In discussion participated Nyaradzo Mashayamombe (Executive Director of Tag a Life International Trust (Ta-LI) Zimbabwe), Gulnara Shaninian (Founder of Democracy Today, Member of Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, Armenia), Khin Ohmar (Democracy activist, Burma) moderated by Jackie Abramian (Founder of Global Cadence and Forbes contributor on women’s issues, USA).
