On November 18, a dozen of Cuban activists began a hunger and thirst strike at the San Isidro Movement (MSI) base after three days of arrests by police agents in Havana. One of them, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, participated at the Forum 2000 Conference in October 2018.

The activists have been entrenched in the MSI base since Monday, November 16, to peacefully protest against the arrest of the young activist and MSI member Denis Solís who was sentenced to eight months in prison for the alleged crime of "contempt". According to Diario de Cuba, "the MSI members and other activists, journalists and independent artists have been arrested for three consecutive days for peacefully protesting for Solís' release."

After the Cuban Police intercepted the person who supplied the group with food, the activists began a hunger and thirst strike demanding the freedom of Daniel Solís and holding the Cuban State responsible for their physical integrity. Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Esteban Rodríguez, Maykel Castillo and Humberto Mena declared themselves on a hunger and thirst strike. Iliana Hernández, Yasser Castellanos, Adrián Rubio, Oscar Casanella and Osmani Pardo declared themselves on hunger strike.

We call on the Cuban government to stop the detentions of pacific protesters denouncing human right violations in Cuba and to release Denis Solís and other unjustly imprisoned Cuban citizens.

El 18 de noviembre, una decena de activistas cubanos iniciaron huelga de hambre y sed en la sede del Movimiento San Isidro (MSI) tras tres días de arrestos por agentes policiales en La Habana. . Uno de ellos, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, participó en la Conferencia Forum 2000 en octubre de 2018.

Los activistas siguen atrincherados en la sede del MSI desde el lunes, 16 de noviembre, para protestar pacíficamente contra el arresto del joven activista y miembro del MSI Denis Solís que fue condenado a ocho meses de prisión por el supuesto delito de "desacato". Según el Diario de Cuba, “integrantes del MSI y otros activistas, periodistas y artistas independientes han sido arrestados durante tres días consecutivos por manifestarse pacíficamente pidiendo la liberación de Solís.”

Después de que la Policía cubana interceptó a la persona que le suministraba alimentos al grupo, los activistas iniciaron huelga de hambre y sed exigiendo la libertad de Daniel Solís y responsabilzando al Estado Cubano de su integridad física. En huelga de hambre y sed se declararon Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Esteban Rodríguez, Maykel Castillo y Humberto Mena. En huelga de hambre se declararon Iliana Hernández, Yasser Castellanos, Adrián Rubio, Oscar Casanella y Osmani Pardo.

Llamamos al gobierno cubano a suspender las detenciones de manifestantes pacíficos que denuncian las violaciones de derechos humanos en Cuba y a liberar a Denis Solís y otros ciudadanos cubanos injustamente encarcelados.
