Explore your Life: Mauricio Alarcón Salvador

May 21, 2025

As part of the regional conference of Democratic Solidarity 2025, we conducted a series of interviews with members of our network in Latin America. These conversations aim to highlight the inspiring work they do while offering an insight into their lives, hopes, and dreams. In this interview, we feature Mauricio Alarcón Salvador, Director of Fundación Ciudadanía y Desarrollo in Ecuador. Alarcón shares his lifelong commitment to democracy and civil society, shaped by a politically engaged family and over two decades of activism. He reflects on the importance of defending principles over personalities, the power of coherence, and the role of failure as a catalyst for growth. Passionate about justice and freedom, he also opens up about his admiration for Salvador Dalí and Agatha Christie, and his dream of a world where differences are respected, not punished. Despite moments of doubt, Alarcón continues to believe in action, integrity, and the possibility of a better Ecuador.
