Discussion "Technology and democracy: Is it a match?"

The realm of technology is increasingly turning into a strategic competition between democracy and authoritarianism. Seemingly, powers like China and Russia are getting ahead in this race while democracies have been responding more slowly. Is this so? If yes, what are the reasons?
These were the initial questions of discussion titled „Technology and democracy: Is it a match?“, which took place on 16th of February, 2021. The main problems discussed were violations of privacy, digital rights and fake news disseminated by the authoritarian governments. Panelists suggested solutions to ensure more opportunities for civil society to engage them in digital rights discussions and to invest in educational programs of digital awareness.
