A human rights program manager at the Open Russia Human Rights project, Mrs. Nemirovskaya has participated in the election campaigns of the Russian opposition – including those of Alexei Na- valny, Boris Nemtsov, and the Democratic Coalition, in Kostroma – and has been repeatedly detained by the Russian police. Nemirovskaya specialises in pro- tecting prisoners’ rights; she has organised rallies in support of prisoners – both political and ordinary – and has also organised charity auctions in support of the “Bolotnaya case” prisoners. As part of her re- search into the criminal justice system in Russia she worked in a district court and several human rights NGO’s in Russia.
