“Searching for Happiness in a Troubled World”

On Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Prague Congress Centre, a public talk, entitled “Searching for Happiness in a Troubled World”, was held by the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Tickets to the event sold out. After the deduction of operational costs, proceeds from ticket sales will be used to support the Gyalten School in Tibet through the M.O.S.T. Civic Association. You can learn more about the project here.
The talk was broadcast live on our website in the Web TV section where a video recording of the proceedings is available now. The talk was held in English and was consecutively interpreted into Czech.

On Monday, December 12 at 14.15, a press conference with His Holiness the Dalai Lama took place.

Roundtable “Democracy and Human Rights in Asia:
One Year After an Empty Chair in Oslo”

In Prague, His Holiness the Dalai Lama also participated in a roundtable discussion focusing on the current state of democracy and human rights in Asia. The discussion also commemorated the anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Other participants of the discussion included Václav Havel, Iranian lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirin Ebadi, Chinese dissident Jianli Yang, co-author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Stéphane Hessel and former French Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Kouchner.
