Presentations of NGOs

During the entire day non-profit organizations will present their activities to the public via their panel presentations. Visitors of the NGO Market will be able to get information about the activities of a particular organization directly from its representatives as well as inform themselves about the possibilities of volunteering and other avenues of support and cooperation with the NGO sector throughout the whole day.

Trust for Civil Society in Central & Eastern Europe ("CEE Trust") and its activities

CEE Trust is an American charity that since 2001 supports long standing sustainable development of civil society, which is indespensable part of democracy in Central and Eastern Europe. CEE Trust operates in seven countries of the region, together with four Visegrad countries it is Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia. The goal is to present CEE Trust and its activities in the Czech Republic and other countries of the region and to present priorities of CEE Trust for next period as well as examples of best practice from countries of the region, which were supported by our charity.

Are companies accountable for the use of child labor?

More than 200 million children all around the world work in a household, in a field, in a mine or factory, instead of going to school. Do you care whether it was a child who harvested the cotton for your T-shirt or wove your carpet? Business representatives and professionals engaged in corporate responsibility as well as activists in the campaign “Stop child labor!” will discuss how companies can prevent employing children in their companies and through their suppliers.
This debate is co-organized by People in Need Foundation.
Patron of the debate is Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague and British Embassy in Prague.

Football for development / in Czech only

This short event will introduce and familiarize the topics of volunteering and development to the public. Aside from NGO INEX-SDA’s presentation of the project „Football for development“ and the screening of the documentary film under the same title, visitors will have a chance to see how a football is made and will possibly given the chance to weave their own.
This debate is co-organized by INEX-SDA.

13.00 – 14.30, Polish institute, Malé náměstí 1

NGOs and access to legal aid in the Czech Republic / in Czech only

The debate will introduce the current state of legal aid accessibility in the Czech Republic and will deal with the role and intermediary potential of non-profit organizations. The topic will be opened by Vítězslav Dohnal, director of the Public Interest Lawyers Association. Afterwards, presenters will address specific areas of legal aid such as human rights, asylum rights, domestic violence, among others, within which Czech NGOs operate.

People for cities, cities for people / in Czech only

Non-formal discussion will deal with the role and different approaches of civic initiatives and associations for improving the quality of city life. The discussions effort will be to compare innovative city planning in the natural environment, public services, traffic as well as social and cultural capital in Prague and Wien in particular. Could creating a CyberCity, where everything is possible online, be a traffic solution, together with enhancing public transportation and developing bicycle routes?

Women in the nonprofit sector / in Czech only

The debate will focus on the current role of women in the nonprofit sector. It will point out the successful involvement of well-known female personalities in concrete projects as well as mention problems which women face in the third sector. Possible solutions will also be suggested. Sociologists, representatives of relevant nonprofit organizations as well as politicians and well-known personalities supporting this sector in their activities will participate in the discussion.

PR in the nonprofit sector / in Czech only

Public relations in the nonprofit sector is a specific field where it is necessary to draw special attention. Celebrities and theoretical professionals as well as practitioners will be present at the discussion in order to address some of the problems which NGOs face in their public relations. Moreover, they will try to describe the practice of public relations and touch on related topics, as for instance the engagement of celebrities as patrons of campaigns in the nonprofit sector.

16.30 – 18.00, Polish institute

In search of a dialogue with China / in Czech only

How can we initiate a dialogue with China? The main theme of the discussion will be the role of political and economic experience and links to the strengthening of dialogue and cooperation at the interpersonal level. Disputants will also deal with whether supporting the activities of NGOs, universities and cultural initiatives can increase the dialogue´s efficiency at the political and economic level. Can the recent successes of Chinese environmental NGOs have a positive influence on the establishment of the nonprofit sector similar to the European one?
Patron of the debate is RESPEKT weekly newspaper, the main media partner of the NGO Market.
