“The significance of this Conference is that it provides valuable opportunity to work together to further enhance the positive aspects of globalization, while rectifying the negative aspects.”

Democracy and the Rule of Law

15th Forum 2000 Conference
October 9–11, 2011, Prague

Held traditionally under the auspices of Václav Havel, the fifteenth annual Forum 2000 Conference convened over 120 global leaders from politics, academia, religion, business and civil society to discuss key issues facing our civilization.

In 2011 we examined the relationship between the rule of law and democracy. How do rule of law deficits undermine democracy? What is the relationship between the rule of law and individual freedom? What are the limits to state sovereignty and the international community’s right to humanitarian intervention and the responsibility to protect? The conference also looked at the role of corruption and organized crime.
The conference program can be found here.

Over 3 000 observers attended the various events that comprise the 3 day Forum 2000 Conference. The observers included representatives of governments, civil society, academia and business. The conference was open to the public. Pre-registration was required to participate as an observer of the conference panels held at Žofín Palace.
We also offered a special category of paid participation as a “premium observer” that went beyond the ordinary level of observer and provided participants the unique opportunity to meet and network with the global leaders who spoke at the conference.
