Director of the Aspen Institute in Berlin since 2001 and Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute Washington, D.C. Executive Director of the New Atlantic Initiative (1996–2001). Lecturer at the Georgetown University, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the board of the Council for a Community of Democracies (Washington, D.C.) and the Program of Atlantic Security Studies (Prague, Czech Republic), he holds a PhD degree of German Area Studies and Linguistics from Georgetown University. His articles on American public diplomacy and foreign policy have appeared in leading U.S. and European publications.
