Jan Švejnar

Founder and Chairman of the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI –, he was runner-up in the 2008 Czech presidential election. Mr. Švejnar is Director of the Center on Global Economic Governance and Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. Prior to this he was the Director of the International Policy Center at the University of Michigan, where he was also a Professor of Business, Economics and Public Policy. He served as Economic Advisor to President Václav Havel as well as the Founding Director of the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (1992–1999). He has Ph.D. from Princeton University.
