Mohamad Bashar Arafat is the founder and president of Civilizations Exchange and Cooperation Foundation which currently provides religious and cultural training and consultation services in the USA. Mr. Arafat has been involved with interfaith work, both nationally and internationally, promoting better understanding between Muslims and other faith traditions. More recently he has been conducting educational program “Islam in America”. Native of Syria, he studied Islamic Studies at Damascus University and under the guidance of the late Grand Mufti. Mr. Arafat served as Imam in Damascus and later in various institutions in the USA. He also taught courses on Islamic Studies at various universities, including Johns Hopkins University. Currently he is teaching at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.
