Former Prime Minister of Canada and former Secretary General of the Club of Madrid. Between 2003 and 2005 she was the President of the International Women's Forum. From 1999 to 2003, she was the Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders. She was also a Fellow of the Center for Public Leadership at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and a member of the International Council of the Asia Society of New York and Global Security Institute, the Middle Powers Initiative, as well as the Forum of Federations. She was also a trustee of the Crisis Group. She served as Minister of State for Indian Affairs and Northern Development (1989), Minister of Justice and Attorney General (1990), as well as Minister of National Defense and Veterans’ Affairs (1993).
