Guido de Marco

Former president of Malta (1999 – 2004). He has also served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Justice, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. De Marco was elected President of the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1990. In September 2004 he was appointed chairman of the Commonwealth Foundation, an intergovernmental organization aiming at strengthening civil society in the Commonwealth.
