An international conference “Securing Sustainable Development for NGOs in the Heart of Europe“ will take place in the National Technical Library in Prague on May 10, 2012 from 10.00 to 16.30. The conference is focused on all NGO professionals and volunteers who will be provided with up-to-date information presented in the European context; they will be offered a space for exchanging experiences and an opportunity to get to know the environment and status of NGO developments in other Visegrad countries – Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. The conference reflects a strong need to efficiently use available resources and to search for alternative options on how to secure the operation of non-governmental organizations.
The conference will bring information gathered within the scope of the “Cooperation of the Visegrad NGOs” project which has been supported by the International Visegrad Fund. Presentations of representatives of the NGOs from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic on financing options for advocacy and development of the NGO sector, Hungarian and Slovakian experience with a so called 1% law and other topics will be complemented by information about funding programs available in the Visegrad region and the European level. “Our main aim is to support Czech NGOs. Foreign experience is an interesting and valuable source of information about solutions to the issues we are facing,” says Alena Novotná, a coordinator of the project.
The conference is organized by the Forum 2000 Foundation in cooperation with the Association of Public Benefit Organizations (AVPO) as a part of the project “Cooperation of the Visegrad NGOs” within the framework of the European Days in the Czech Republic. The conference is supported by the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung, International Visegrad Fund, the Information office of the European Parliament in the Czech Republic and the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic.
The conference will be held in English with simultaneous translation to Czech and is open to all NGO representatives and other interested professionals. Find out more
